Images of Illusion 1984

35

This poster, titled Images of Illusion (1984) by Shigeo Fukuda福田繁雄, is a clever example of visual illusion in graphic design. On  red background, a circular pattern made of several blue limbs forms a spinning, star-like shape.

At first glance, audience may see only hands or only feet—but on closer look, each limb is both an arm and a leg, depending on how you see it. This playful ambiguity creates a surreal, eye-catching effect.
