Horizonte (March 1927 Issue)

5

Horizonte magazine was published in Mexico between 1926 and 1927 and served as striking visual manifestos. Estridentismo or Stridentism was the name given to this movement that began after 1921.  Post-Mexican Revolutionary period, these covers embodied the Mexican avant-garde with artwork and literature related to political and social issues. This cover uses all caps bold san-serif type, which is attention-grabbing. There are also three figures where the attachers are stylized heroically. In terms of color, reds, blacks, and yellows are used and help emphasize the fiery and violent scene.
