Earth Air Fire Water Earth Day Poster

1

Though the original artist unknown, this poster was seen in downtown Minneapolis in the spring of 1990, leading up to Earth Day, along with leaflets demanding that the newly-opened Minneapolis municipal garbage incinerator be shut down.

This poster is seen with an ostrich, a fly, a chameleon and a fish that are all having trouble breathing.  It is  a jarring photo, with simple colors and imagery that is striking. It makes the viewer take a step back since it shows the impact humans' pollution have on animals.
