Bob Dylan Poster

20

Bob Dylan was sick and rumored dead after a 1966 motorbike accident. CBS Records hired Milton Glaser to design a poster for Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits to promote the album. Glaser painted Dylan in profile with his copious curly hair in bright colors against the white background, inspired by a Marcel Duchamp self-portrait. This visually striking work is defined by a bold silhouette of Dylan with colorful, swirling hair patterns, symbolizing the free-spirited, transformative energy of the 1960s.  Milton Glaser later used the visual motif of this famous Bob Dylan poster as the cover of a collection of his works in 1983.
