Antoine de Saint-Exupéry mostly known from his book “The little Prince”, wrote the novel “Vol de nuit” (Night Flight) in 1931, based on Saint-Exupéry’s experiences as an airmail pilot and as a director of the Aeroposta Argentina airline, based in Buenos Aires. The characters were inspired by the people Saint-Exupéry knew while working in South America. Notably, the character of Rivière was based on the airline's operations director Didier Daurat.
This book is published by the book club ‘Le club du meilleur livre’ in France. The books from this book club could be mail-ordered directly home, and they were not available in bookstores.
Jeanine Fricker is a French graphic designer, very much hidden from graphic design history books, even though she had an incredible career as a book designer and art director.
