Doubleday-Hill Electric Co. Postcard, Charlotte, NC
This is a postcard printed with the electrical company name, calendar, and an illustration of a woman from the American Progressive Era (1890-1920). This was a period of reformation with social and political issues stemming from Industrialization, immigration, and corruption. On the back of the postcard are advertised early 19th century electrical lights for Christmas trees, a stamp with a date, time, year, location and authentic signatures. The Doubleday Electric Company was a major electrical supplier in the early 1900’s, although it’s debated when it first opened. It was headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA and became nationally popular. KQV (King of the Quaker Valley) is one of the oldest radio stations in the world and Doubleday obtained ownership of the KQV on November 19th, 1919. KQV continued operations until December 31st, 2017.
