This is a poster made to encourage Jewish people from other parts of the world to immigrate to the newly independent state of Israel. Israel gained its independence in 1948 and began producing a large series of posters to encourage new Jewish families to move to Israel permanently. This poster particularly targets families with young children by promising to give them a religious education and teach them Hebrew. This is important because the state of Israel is promising to make education accessible to all new families that come to live there, no matter how much they know about Judaism. By investing money and time into young people, they are building a strong foundation for their new nation. The Israeli government is spreading the word of their religion and language to any Jewish family that moves there.
The poster uses a black and white image of two young boys reading a book with farmland and houses shown against rolling hills behind them. The typography is large and uses the blue color to stand out. The blue on the black and white draws the viewers’ eyes in and helps spread their message clearly. As a new nation, Israel makes a large point to increase access to all Jewish families to increase their population.
Research on the designer and photographer is still in progress as there is very little information about the piece readily available.
