Just My Type: A Book About Fonts

12

Journalist and author Simon Garfield (1960–) wrote Just My Type, a book that discusses the importance of fonts, its history, characteristics, and how each typeface conveys an individual narrative. More than 200 fonts of different time periods and styles are sampled throughout the book, and Garfield explores the public’s opinion and initial response to many of them, like Comic Sans and Helvetica

Simon Garfield has no background experience in graphic design, but he has high understanding and knowledge of typography. Just My Type: A Book About Fonts (1st edition) was designed by James Alexander of Jade Design, including the book design, layout, and font wrangling. The main chapters used Sabon MT in 11/15 pt, while fontbreaks used Univers 45 light in 9.5/15 pt.

Just My Type: A Book About Fonts was republished in 2011 as a US Edition.
