Carolyn Davidson was a graphic design student and attended Portland State University and that's wher she met Phil Knight (founder of Nike). Knight asks Davidson to help him come up with a logo and evnetually in 1971, Davidson designs the world famous Nike Swoosh. The design features a simple, black, curved check mark that represents speed, agility, and athleticism. Over the years there has been some changes to the Nike logo, but for the most part the company still incorporates the same swoosh from 1971.
