どろろ (Dororo by Osamu Tezuka)
The author of this manga, Osamu Tezuka, was graduated from medical school and he is the first manga artist known as "Sensei" in Japan, he developed manga into a serious art form. His other works, such as Black Jack and Astro Boy, are all related to themes of medicine and ethics, so the background design of this cover also echoes this theme, consisting of human organs and tissues such as brain and kidney. Dororo tells the story of Hyakkimaru, who lost all his organs because his father sacrificed him to 48 demons after he born, and the story is about how he and orphan Dororo defeated the 48 demons and took back his organs.
For the typeface, the designer used a kind of San-serif type which is not eye-catching in the cover. The chose of typeface highlighted the characters drawn by Osamu Tezuka, such as Hyakkimaru with prosthetic limbs and the baby Hyakkimaru in the form of a skeleton.
