Dream of the Red Chamber, also known as The Story of the Stone, is a Chinese novel written by Cao Xueqin in the Qing Dynasty. It tells the rise and fall of a family of officials in the city of Jinling (now Nanjing in Jiangsu).
The picture shows the illustrated edition published by the People's Literature Publishing House. The title is written in vertical by Yimo Shen, a modern Chinese calligrapher, educator and Redology enthusiast. The brushstrokes of the three characters are elegant and rich. The publisher on the side is in SongTi (Simsun), which is a common typestyle in Chinese. The illustration below is by Wen Sun, and the media is “Gongbi” painting, which shows meticulously painted figure picture.
