Digital Design: A History

20

Over the years digital design has uncultivated society through different fields such as media, art, film, businesses, music, and many more. Through Stephen Eskilson's book Digital Design he explores when digital design first arised in the 1800s and how it's still prominent in today's day and age. The book goes deeper in discussing how digital design has revolutionized graphic design, typography, architecture, web development, etc. Throughout the book, Eskilson highlights a number of influential figures such as April Greiman.  Greiman's 1986 poster for the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art (LAICA) incorporates her asthetic of graphic design by implementing a bold, sans-serif typeface for “Fashion Show” and “Clothing Sale”. There is also a bold color pallete with yellow, blue, and white that works well with the asymetric layout.

The book cover design features a gradient transition background starting with dark purple and ending with orange at the bottom of the cover. The typography is bold and is written in digital lettering to insinuate that "digitally effect".
