New Accessible Icon

20

This is the accessibility icon we've all seen before. Have you ever noticed there's two variations of it? It's now that I did.

The project dedicated to this new design was given a very simple name: “The Accessible Icon Project.” Led by Tim Ferguson Sauder, Brian Glenney, and Sara Hendren, the redesign process took place from 2009-2011. The old version shows a handicapped icon set in place, so as ready to be pushed, while the new icon shows a handicapped person moving themselves. This simple redesign took the icon a long way, changing the connotation from incapable to capable.
