Wang Zhihong is a popular book design artist from Taiwan, who introduced the concept of “Total design,” emphasizing that every detail of a book should be fully involved by the designer to ensure a unified and coherent reading experience. When designing the cover for Lin Huiyin's You Are the April Day in the World, Wang Zhihong incorporated this concept into his design, rejecting the traditional calligraphy and portrait illustrations used in previous editions of her poetry collections cover, and instead using a more modern, feminine, and elegant style.

Lin Huiyin (1904–1955) was China’s first female architect, also a poet and writer, known for her significant contributions to architecture as well as her poetry and essays. Her poetry collection You Are the April Day in the World is one of her representative works, showing deep emotion and delicate aesthetics.

Wang Zhihong extracted six elements from Lin Huiyin's You Are the April Day in the World: "stars, rain, clouds, water, snow, flowers," and transformed these into graphic symbols, combining them with modern typography to create a poetic visual effect. (Fig. 4) At the same time, considering Lin Huiyin's background in architecture, Wang Zhihong used an architectural grid system to ensure that the cover design conveyed a sense of rationality and order, with the text and graphic elements aligned within the grid, symbolizing the harmonious balance between reason and emotion. (Fig. 5) This approach resulted in a design that was modern, elegant, and poetic.

Wang Zhihong's design is not only a visual representation of Lin Huiyin's work, but also a profound interpretation of her personality and artistic background, showcasing her multidimensional charm as an outstanding woman.
