'Abeceda' is a graphic design book by Karel Teige, an avant-garde graphic designer, that unconventionally showcased the Latin alphabet through dance choreography, photography, poetry, and typography. Throughout the book, Teige utilizes ‘typofoto’ techniques, pairing each letter with photographs by Karel Paspa that capture Mayerová's poses that shape the letters.
Teige uses a typeface that resembles modernist sans-serif – which is no surprise as he was known for his participation in the Constructivist movement and following Modernist philosophy.
This book was a staple piece that had come out of the Devêtsil art collective movement at the time consisting of avant-garde artists, photographers, architects.
'Abeceda' was published by Nákl J. Otto in Prague.
