Packaging for Amoy peanut oil

Henry Steiner is known as one of Hong Kong’s pioneering graphic designers, and he is also a proponent of what he calls “cross-cultural design.”

The design of this peanut oil tank blends modern design with traditional Oriental visual elements. The front of the tank body adopts bilingual typesetting in Chinese and English, and the words "Amoy Food Limited peanut oil," combined with the calligraphic word "oil" in red, not only emphasize the brand identity but also enhance the visual impact, making it more recognizable on the shelf. The white metal tank, with the red calligraphy "oil (油)," has the radical (氵) replaced by three peanut images with a simulated relief effect, forming an intuitive visual symbol. This not only shows the raw materials of the product but also gives the brand a strong cultural flavor. The back adopts modern and concise English typesetting to provide clear product information, which better meets the needs of the international market.

The overall design strengthens the brand identity through direct visual symbols such as peanuts and calligraphy so that the product packaging not only meets the aesthetic standards of the modern international market but also retains a deep cultural imprint.
