Kid A is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, released on October 2nd, 2000. The album cover was designed by Stanley Donwood, who designed most of the album artworks with Radiohead’s lead vocalist Thom Yorke.
The album cover for Kid A was created by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood. The cover features a mountain range, inspired by their concern over climate change and melting ice caps, with Donwood describing the mountains as representing ‘cataclysmic power.’ He was also influenced by a photo from the Kosovo War, showing war debris in the snow, which deeply affected him. The red swimming pool on the spine and disc, inspired by the graphic novel Brought to Light, symbolizes danger and broken expectations. The abstract design of the cover reflects the album’s experimental sound, blending electronic, jazz, and rock influences, perfectly matching the album’s music style.
