LEGO 230: Hairdressing Salon
LEGO 230: Hairdressing Salon is a domestic-themed set from the 1970s Homemaker series. This design was made to appeal to girls through its focus on everyday life and beauty routines. This packaging portrays a girl on the front cover, with the intention of making it gendered and convey the message of it being for girls, not boys. This set reflects a period when toys were increasingly designed with gender-specific stereotypes to foster imaginative play in traditionally feminine spaces. Additionally, this set and the LEGO brand was heavily influenced by Bauhaus and Swiss International Style due to the use of a limited color palette of primary colors, functional design and geometric forms.
