Past Pringles logos
When Pringles were introduced in 1967, the logo's design was relatively detailed compared to the more modern designs.
The first logo, introduced in 1967 with the launch of the chips, features the iconic Mr. Julius with a thick black outline, reddish hair and moustache, and cheeks with a red and white striped pattern. The logo was placed under the logo in a bold yellow font.
The second logo was introduced nearly 20 years later in 1986 and this version is a slightly updated redesign of the initial logo. This iteration reshaped Mr. Pringles' head to be more circular and the color of his hair and moustache was made more of a brown. The text was also changed to appear to wrap around the head but otherwise remained largely the same.
The third logo, introduced in 1996, was more of a significant change. Mr. Pringles was placed diagonally and the colors were made brighter. The hair became a much lighter shade of brown, the head became more ovular again, and the red cheeks were omitted. Accompanying the redesign was a cleaner font that altogether gave the logo a more refined and stylish appearance.
The fourth logo was perhaps the most significant change. Mr. Pringles was given a more contemporary aesthetic and a red bowtie was added to his design. Gradients were added to both the bowtie and the hair, giving a sense of depth and texture and the eyebrows were removed.
Two more iterations would follow in 2009 and 2021 respectively with the most recent redesign following a design trend of the 2020s of logos being simplified.
