This is the cover of Shengxiang & Band's 2013 album I-village, it is designed by Taiwan designer Luo Wencen.
Shengxiang & Band's music is mostly in Hakka dialect, showing the life of rural settlements in Southern Taiwan and their local myths and stories passed down by generations. Hakka is a minor immigrant ethnicity group widely distributed in southeastern Asia, they mainly living in central and southern Taiwan.
The design elements of this album cover are very simple and exquisite. The scenery in the distance combines the style of Chinese ink landscape painting, and in nearer place, the delicate brushstrokes of Gongbi (fine brushwork) are used to present the trees and houses in the village.
In terms of fonts, the album title is a combination of Chinese and Western styles, and the outer edge is emphasized by a square frame. The Chinese title “我庄” (I-Village) uses a free and easy vertical brush calligraphy front design, Beside that, the band name uses a more compact and square font design due to the complex character strokes.
