Suparpburut Newspaper
The image is a clip from the Thai Suparpburut newspaper from the late 1930s or early 1940s. The newspaper is reporting on the events of World War 2. The newspaper displays several different Thai typefaces. This publication also existed in a time of fast evolution of Thai typography. The growing demand for Thai typefaces in the early 1930s led to the bold type style called Pong, which can be seen utilized in the newspaper's header. This newspaper also documents Thai typography before the simplification of the Thai language in the late 1940s.
