National Parks Service Poster

850

Dorothy Waugh’s 1930’s National Park poster used soft yet contrasting colors and expressive typography to create an inviting depiction of nature, encouraging people to visit and appreciate the parks. While not explicitly activist, her work countered urban hardship during the Great Depression by promoting the parks as spaces of adventure, unity, and escape from industrialization.
