The poster of 《万吨水压机》 uses traditional ink to express the huge and complex metal structures, machinery and equipment plant structures, and workers operating, promoting the development of new expressive techniques in Chinese paintings of industrial themes. “Xie Zhiguang had previously studied Western painting and painted calendar posters, so his paintings incorporate elements of both Chinese and Western styles and have certain advantages in expressing realistic subjects. This work also played a bridging role in the creation of industrial themes,” said the curator.
