Anton Stankowski (1906–1998), a German graphic designer who studied painting, photography, and graphics, is the co-author and designer of Der Pfeil: Spiel, Gleichnis, Kommunikation (The Arrow: Game, Parable, Communication. 

Stankowski’s design subjects commonly depict behaviors and processes rather than physical objects. The book cover uses one color, purple, with black and white, with the book title, authors, and publisher, along with illustrations of arrow shapes in various styles.
