Type 1 PostScript Fonts like Times, Helvetica, and Courier. Huge beginning for modern typography used today (1984). Used for higher quality and desktop publishing software, as well as printing. Later TrueType came along allowing users to scale fonts without distortion designed by Apple, then OpenType designed by Adobe and Microsoft to be easily used across all platforms.
