Comedia, Playing Cards
Designed by Stig Lindberg, a Swedish post-war designer known primarily for his ceramic and tableware work, is Comedia, a set of playing cards. It includes a double deck of standard playing cards (2 x 52 cards), with two Jokers and a card introducing the deck and designer. It was originally published and sold by Thomas De La Rue.
It was designed in Lindberg’s current illustrative style at the time, characterized as whimsical and decorative, with a bold color palette used for unique elements, royalty cards, and checkered patterns.
