Mazetti Eyes - Olle Eksell

705

The Mazetti Eyes are a set of logos created in 1956 in by Swedish designer Olle Eksell. These eyes were created as part of a branding campaign for the Swedish chocolate company Mazetti, based on the eyes of cacao. Their creation was heavily influenced by both Scandinavian design and Bauhaus modernism and went on to appear on Mazetti's posters and packaging. The design keeps a human-like emphasis while maintaining geometric abstraction, a balance between influences at the time.

This push of functionalism mixed with humanism later helped to develop Swiss style design, seen in primarily corporate branding spaces. This project helped to establish branding as a cohesive visual language and brought the influence of European design trends to a global scale.
