“Bauhaus, All the Circles of the Cultural World”
This design was featured in an advertising brochure for the bauhaus magazine. The text featured on the image reads “All Circles of the cultural world." The school put out this advertisement to attract students to learn by showing their ideology at the bauhaus. The ideology of the school was to merge fine art and design to be more accessible for the consumption of mass culture. They wanted to serve the people with design and use it to transform society. The school strived to make art education obtainable for anyone interested whether they had a background in art and craft or were in a lower income range than typically went to art school. The bauhaus school was a pioneer to accessibility in the arts and education.
They worked to educate all their students starting at the same level. First year students would get basic training in design principles, color theory, and shape and materials. This helped to prime new students with less of a background in design, allowing all students to learn and grow as a collective. The ideology and importance of the bauhaus school has shaped accessibility in art education monumentally through their open ideals and passion to learn and teach “all circles of the cultural world.”
