This poster showcases the Nazi disdain for those with disabilities. Pictured, is a seemingly “well” man holding up a disabled one. His posture and the way his hands and feet curl into himself make viewers aware that he is not able-bodied.
The figures on this image, however, are only a small part of the overall message. Second only to the title of the magazine, “Neues Volk,” the largest text is 60000 RM. According to the poster, this is how many Reichmarks this man costs the nation to take care of (ushmm.org). The idea is that disabled people cost the general population so much suggests that they might as well be executed to relieve that extensive financial burden.
The visuals are similar to that of plakatstil, though the poster uses photography rather than illustration, in that the design chose to remove the context of the work in favor it's core components: the two men and the information. This idea of not including a setting for the figures to occupy was relatively new for this time.
