This representation of Santa Claus was created by illustrator Haddon Sundblom for Coca-Cola. Sundblom was inspired by a poem by Clement Clark Moore in 1822 called “A Visit from St. Nicholas” —commonly known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
This billboard was introduced in 1931 and shaped public perceptions of Santa Claus.
