This entrance to the Paris subway system, nicknamed The Dragonfly, was designed by Hector Guimard. He was  an art nouveau architect and designed 150 of these entrances, 3 were pavilions like this one, the others are decorative gates. Now 86 of his structures remain in use in Paris. The entrances are made with cast iron supports painted green, and glass surrounds. The lettering on the signs is also Guimard's design and is now known as the typeface Metropolitaines.
