The Jetsons Comic Issue #1
The first comic appearance of the Jetson family. Published in 1963, one year after their first television debut in The Jetsons on September 23, 1962. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, who notably dominated the cartoon world after having produced Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, The Smurfs, and more. To this day, The Jetsons serves as a pinnacle of representation for the 20th century futurism popularized at the time.
Gold Key Comics was an imprint under Western Publishing following their separation with Dell Comics in 1962. Dell had the license to Hanna-Barbera before this split, but after, Western would continue to publish comics labeled with the Gold Key logo from 1963-1970. The Jetsons would make three appearances in the March of Comics series under Gold Key as well, before they lost the licensed property to Charlton Comics. Charlton would continue to publish comics featuring The Jetsons until 1973
