Taxi sign below Suwa Taisha

1

I was exploring a shrine in Suwa prefecture in Japan, a prefecture most known for the giant lake it surrounds. I visited the Suwa Grand Shrine, Suwa Taisha, and noticed this taxi sign as I was leaving. I found it interesting how illustrative a lot of the design is in Japan in  general but many signs like this are made to be cute. It's an interesting difference from the what the western world would describe as “professional design” which was a nice change of pace for me as a student of graphic design in the united states.
