Advertising in the 1900s was shaped by technological advancements and consumer behaviors. Advertisements were often text heavy and included clear images that got messages across to it’s desired audience. Women during the suffrage movement used this to deliver mass information to promote their cause. The postcard: “Vote for Women (sic) Cleaner politics showcases a young girl cleaning up a boys hair. This image paired with the text conveys the idea that by aiding in women’s suffrage we will have a political environment with integrity. The use of advertisements to get clear information across to viewers not only aided in consumerism but also the spread of important ideas within the suffrage movement.
