This item, “Milk and Honey,” by Rupi Kaur is a poetry collection that explores the resilience and fragility of our human experience where themes of honesty, trauma, love, loss, and healing are portrayed. This can certainly be attributed to the history of Graphic Design through various forms of handwritten typography which are expressive, and simple and become an important part of Kaur's visual narrative. The minimalist aesthetic shows a simple yet powerful contrast between black-and-white typefaces and paper. In this item, the use of typography has become the center of the overall design as well through the use of typographic storytelling where type becomes a part of the illustrations. “Milk and Honey,” can inspire writers, other artists, and Graphic Designers to look at type as more than just words on paper with their interdisciplinary approaches.
