This is the cover art of Volume 1, Issue 1 of The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art. This magazine was created at the peak of the industrial revolution in London, where  it exerted a major influence on the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements. Being a published magazine from 1893 to 1964, The Studio had a long run of promoting “New Art” artists, designers, and architects, placing a large importance of the core principles of the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements: the separation and dissolution of industrialization in the face of advancing art as a humanistic form.
