This quarterly newsletter was written and designed by my mom, Tonya Siegel Meyers. She was the Director of Communications at The Kent County Chapter of the American Red Cross, back in the 1990s. It was sent out to all the donors and volunteers, and had a circulation of over 6,000. I believe this piece is worth archiving because it was created when computers were just starting to gain popularity and be utilized in the graphic design process. She came up with a layout complete with images and clipart without using a computer. The photos and clipart were hard copies, selected from printed materials. My mom believes the software that she used for the text was WordPerfect. Once she finished writing all the body text that was going to be included, she saved it on a disk. The disk, a physical copy of the layout, and all the photos and clipart were given to the printing service, Spartan Printing. They merged everything together and produced this newsletter.
