Data visualization plays a huge role in communicating complex topics and helps information spread quicker. The work done in the 19th century shaped the way we can view larger issues and truly allows people to understand issues holistically. Taking complicated issues and turning them into digestible images is a practice that has been utilized since the day it began. Data visualization helped within the suffrage movement in the 20th century, allowing for the progression of women’s rights. An example of this is The Woman Suffrage Year Book which was produced to get information to suffrage workers around the country. The book has 260 pages that hold statistical information about women’s suffrage. Page three of the book is a map of North America showcasing the levels of suffrage in each place. This bird's eye view of such a huge territory helps individuals and activists within this movement see the effects of their work and where more change needs to happen.
