Term Frequency

850

The ‘Term Frequency’ (TF) tool on Gale Digital Scholar Lab allows researchers to input content/text to “begin identifying central themes and assessing how individuals, places, events, and ideas interact and develop over time” (Gale). Seeing visual representation of terms used based on either frequency or popularity allows users to gain nuance to the relevance of their research topics in context. The custom sets of visual data the TF tool displays removes barriers to entry for those who might be interested in researching/analyzing digital humanities. TF makes it possible to quickly and visually assess the information found within dense sources, efficiently communicating data to researchers with a wide range of experience.
