Dear Data

Dear Data is a year-long, analog data drawing project by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec. This project was completed through weekly collections and visualizations of data that reflect the designers everyday lives. This project ran over the course of a year with the drawings being posted amongs the two designers, reflecting a slower form of data transmission than we may be used to with the speed of the internet.

This example of data visualization is particularly interesting through the use of drawing and analysis of more personal, mundane data that is often overlooked. Through the medium of postage, the data can be dignified through this transmission as it is expected on the other end and a contribution to a greater project which is a larger collection of the “mundane” data. This largely reflects the social condition and habits of common people, promoting self-awareness and highlighting differences in regionality ( London and America).

The work has been acquired by the Moma in 2016 and published into a book.
