This graphic was created to promote the second annual Charlotte FemmeFest, an event organized to promote women artists, celebrating music, visual art, and literature. Organizers of each event donate portion of proceeds to charity, and FemmeFest 2009 benefited the Eco Center for Women at Charlotte's Center for Community Transitions.
The design reflects the aesthetic of early iterations of promotional graphics for the Charlotte FemmeFest, containing dandelion graphics with a purple and green color palette.
A woman blowing on the achenes of a dandelion can be compared to the figure of the sower drawn by Eugène Grasset around 1890 for the French Larousse dictionaries, illustrating the spread of knowledge.
