This is an AD campaign by the Singapore Council of Women's Organisations to educate on the issues of violence against women and bring attention to it to the public's eye, ultimately, encouraging victims to break their silence and demand for change.
In the past, violence against women was not considered a social problem of any significance. While there were laws to protect women from sexual violence, it only occurred if the act was committed in public, thus women were not protected by the laws from inside their homes.
This issue remained hidden until the 1980s, years after Singapore gained its independence when women began forming movements and cast a spotlight on the problem (women's action).
