The Tron Legacy movie was released in 2010, and shown here is the 2011 DVD version of it. Tron Legacy is a sequel to the original Tron movie released in 1982. Tron was one of the first movies to use CGI, and was considered to be ahead of its time. In today's time we would consider that CGI to be bad, but we can see the huge improvement of CGI in Tron Legacy. Syd Mead was a huge part of designing Tron. He designed the concepts for the bikes in the movie.
Not only do the movies themselves show how much technology has advanced in the span of the 30 years between the release of the two movies, but you can also see it in the posters as well. In the images there is the original Tron poster, as well as another Tron Legacy poster that is different from the DVD cover, that was done to match the original and pay homage to it.
The Tron Legacy movie also shows how there are new ways to watch movies. DVDs didn’t come out until 1996, 14 years after Tron was released. In 1982, people would have been watching the movie in the theaters or on a VHS tape once it would’ve been released. Streaming services also existed by the time Tron was released.
