The Physichromie

The Physichromies is a public installation that can be an experience to the viewer as it is designed to change color depending on the movement of the person as well as the intensity of the light. The piece is explained to be a “light trap” as depending on the circumstances of the place it can generate new ranges of color that are not present in the actual piece.  The artist, Cruz-Diez used industrial materials and techniques, such as aluminum and printing technology to create an interactive experience for the viewer that would not be possible without the newer technologies. His work goes beyond traditional art forms by combining industrial production processes with design and it demonstrates how Venezuelan art and design were influenced by industrialized technology.
