The Victoria Regia: A Volume of Original Contributions in Poetry and Prose, provides a public platform for influential voices in the women’s rights movement. The publication was then edited by Adelaide Procter and published by Emily Faithfull’s Victoria Press. The press was known to push out the works of notable authors through the use of women as compositors, proofreaders, and editors.

Industrialization was key to the shift within the technologies of printing. The Victoria Press leveraged these technologies, training women in typesetting, composition, and proofing, and thereby challenged conventional views of women as unsuited for larbourful technical work. By presenting women as professionals in this process, the press worked to dismantle pre-existing stereotypes that placed women solely in domestic jobs and roles. This publication pushed and expanded the public's perceptions of women’s capacities. This showed them in a new light of skilled technical roles that extended beyond domestic expectations.
