This is the cover of an edition of the first gay newspaper in North Carolina. It covered topics for queer people like local gay bars, political activism, and the AIDS crisis. This specific issue was released the week before Valentine's Day and you can see the influence of that in the main design, with the pink colors, hearts, lace, and cupid motifs. The type is very strong in the upper half of the composition but not so much in the lower half. The article teasers are printed in black over dark pink, making the text very hard to see. Thus, they are not very eye catching or appealing which is exactly what a teaser should be. The newspaper was started in 1975 and continued for two years, where in 1977, the same year that this artifact was made, the newspaper itself was shut down.
