Congratulations (Album Cover)

The Congratulations album cover was made by Anthony Ausgang, it was made for 2010 album of the same name performed by the Connecticut Indie Rock Band, MGMT. The initial concept of the album cover would have looked like you were ‘winning a lottery ticket’. However, the idea shifted to a surfer riding a wave that would wipe them out. 

The album cover took three weeks to complete, all throughout this time Ausgang was not allowed to listen to the music in advance, meaning he had to create the artwork while listening to MGMT’s debut album, Oracular Spectacular. Once released, the album cover was met with criticism from the public but was still praised by the band members.
