Bill Gazzarri operated a music venue on the Sunset Strip in formerly unincorporated West Hollywood from the 1960s-90s. One act that got their start there was The Doors. Another was a group from nearby Pasadena, called Van Halen. In 1974, they were a struggling band advertising their shows on 8.5"x11" flyers through a salad of letter forms, sans their later iconic logo.
