The American Girl Magazine ran from 1992 to 2019 and featured various activities. Among these activities were stories, craft instructions, history lessons, and personal stories from girls around the US.
The front of the magazine features the text “The New Magazine for All American Girls!" While this title may seem exclusive, the inside attempts inclusiveness: featuring stories about pioneers, personal family stories, facts about girls from different time periods, and crafts based on the art of “American Indians”.
The magazine was intended for young girls to have their own platform similar to other magazines of the time. The magazine attempted to bridge the gap between historical and modern girls, as well as promote female friendship.
