1953 Baseball Schedule • The Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Co. Map
This double-sided leaflet presents the baseball season of the N.Y YANKEES, BROOKLYN DODGERS and N.Y GIANTS teams for the year 1953.
On one side is the baseball game schedule with an illustration encouraging people to take the Hudson Tubes. On the other side are two maps, one of the state and one of the Manhattan subway systems to get to baseball games.
The drawing is a mixture of typography and lettering and illustrations made with a pen. The design is signed OPPY on the right corner of both sides of the print.
The leaflet is a promotional item distributed by The Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Co. whose address is located at 30 Church St. in New York.
Originally, the Hudson Tubes were designed to link terminals on the Hudson River in New Jersey with New York City. Its construction history was marked by the difficulty of safely building a tunnel under the Hudson River, which is why the flyer touts the benefits of safe travel.
Leaflet's size : 308 x 221 mm.
